The room is dark and cold. One lone ray of light peaks through a broken blind and illuminates an empty metal chair. As I sit down I make the mistake of turning to look into the light. It blinds me and now I can't see past the chair I'm sitting in. The floor boards creek and I don't know if it's my eyes or something moving beyond the darkness's threshold. The chair and room are cold but I began to sweat anyway as a draft moves through the room from some unknown origin hiding in the darkness.
This room is dark and cold but a pleasant relief from the heat and brightness outside. A lone ray of light falls across my neck gently warming it as I sit down in the lone metal chair that seems to have been placed here just for me to collapse into. The floor is cool on my bare feet which are sore from walking a long way. As air moves through the room it carries with it the smell of an air freshner hiding some unknown outlet. This darkness is a good hiding place from a long day.
